I’ve spoken with enough people about love over the years – personally and professionally – to know who’s worth listening to. Frank Ocean was no pretender. Sure, he kept a small part for himself, but that’s fair, a problem only if you believe that whom Mr. Ocean chooses to love is more important than the fact that he loves hard, and speaks about it with wisdom and empathy for the wounded and the wounder alike. Someone who knows what it’s like to be hurt – that’s who you want to hear stories from. You want all the details of what happened, the lessons that were learned, the comfort of hearing how a survivor survived.
